I have worked in IT for 20 years however being a wife of a Marine I sacrificed my career for his. Moving around meant starting over no real opportunities for advancement. It meant leaving great jobs and potential behind for his next step of his career. Then several years later, came a divorce I didn’t expect and with that his complete lack of support of our two kids. I had to spend my time and energy focused on raising them and taking care of their futures. I had to stay in a job position for security and flexibility for the peace of mind that I knew I had a job to take care of them. 10 years later I’m still there at the same place and feeling the impact of how under paid I am and how little my career has grown and developed over the years because of putting my family first.
